Demo Launch on Steam and Itch.io
June 4th, 2026
The demo for South of the March is now live!
Check out the trailer! Only a few days old, fresh from the editing room.
Demo Details
It's been a hectic few weeks getting everything together for this, but here we go! This demo covers somewhere around a quarter of the total content in the game, and runs on PC, Mac, and Linux (including SteamOS). It's also got a few new features that haven't been covered yet in previous devlogs, most notably controller support for both PS and XBOX style controllers.
We've done a lot of testing, but this is the first serious public release, so if you run into any bugs, please let us know! Socials are all available in the footer, any way that works for you.
The demo also leads us right into the next step:
Steam Next Fest

We've applied to include South of the March in the June edition of Steam Next Fest. That starts June 15th, and the press review starts today. I don't really know what to expect from it, as this is our first release on Steam, but I wanted to make sure we hit the deadlines to see what kind of attention it gets.
If we get any critical feedback in the next week or so, that'll give us a little time to make corrections, but hopefully it's all smooth for a while here. Let's find out!
Then on to the last step:
The Full Version

Things to come...
The core assets and writing for the rest of the game are already completed, though there's still some sidequests to flesh out, plenty of balancing to be done, whatever insights we gather from demo feedback, and some Steam-specific additions (like Steam stats and achievements) that aren't there yet. So, while I don't think I'm prepared to put a concrete release date on this yet, I would guess we'll be able to get the full version out before the end of the year (hopefully well before).
I'll debrief afterwards on how Next Fest goes. Thanks for reading, and for all your support!
